Dubai World Central

Dubai World Central - Location Map Dubai’s location at the crossroads of three continents makes it a perfect stopover for travelers. As the emirate’s logistics and aviation industries take off, Dubai is aiming to be a distribution hub serving the Middle East and beyond. And, visionary strategic projects like Dubai World Central (DWC) are expected to play a vital role in realizing that dream.

Dubai World Central is one of the most significant commercial infrastructure developments ever undertaken in the Middle East. Nearly twice the size of Hong Kong Island, the DWC will transform the region into one of the most powerful global centers for logistics, tourism and commerce. The multi-phased development covers an astounding 140 sq. km and has six clustered zones, all catering to the booming aviation and logistics industries. It is advantageously positioned next to Jebel Ali Port and Free Zone, making sea to air connectivity attainable in less than four hours in ideal conditions – a world beating turnaround time.

The DWC is a self-contained ‘city within a city’ with a workforce of over 900,000 people which is more than the combined populations of Zurich and Brussels. To ensure hassle-free connectivity, the development will be serviced by a dedicated light rail system and Dubai Metro, in addition to several high road networks. Equipped with the latest smart technology, Dubai World Central is poised to be the most advanced entity of its type in the world.
Dubai World Central (DWC) comprises 6 districts. They are:

DWC Al Maktoum International Airport 1. DWC Al Maktoum International Airport

At the heart of Dubai World Central is the DWC Al Maktoum International Airport, the world’s largest passenger and cargo hub, ten times larger than Dubai International Airport and Dubai Cargo Village combined. The airport has an annual cargo capacity of 12 million tons, which is more than 3 times that of Memphis, today’s largest cargo hub and a passenger capacity of 120-150 million – almost 50% more than Atlanta, currently the world’s busiest passenger airport.

With Dubai’s projected infrastructure costs in aviation, tourism, commercial and logistics demands to touch US $33 billion, Aviation City caters to the region’s aviation needs. The City will play a vital role in attracting companies, businesses, consultancy majors and MRO organizations from the aviation industry worldwide. It is in close vicinity to the DWC Al Maktoum International Airport.

3. Dubai Logistics City

DWC Residential City covers approximately 715 hectares of land providing high quality accommodation for middle-income households working within the giant urban aviation community. To be developed in 5 phases, freehold land plots in Residential City will be offered to developers on the open market who will then build residential property projects in accordance with master plan guidelines. Up to 250,000 people are expected to live in Residential City and a further 20,000 will work there.

5. Dubai World Central – Commercial City

The city will also boast up to 25 hotels ranging from deluxe, through to 5-star and three-star. Plots of land are to be sold to leading developers, who will build commercial real estate projects in accordance with the approved Dubai World Central master plan and design requirements.

In addition, there will be extensive practice facilities, driving ranges and putting greens as well as a luxury clubhouse with restaurants and Pro shop. Up to 5,000 freehold homes ranging from two-storey villas to 24-storey apartment blocks will border the city almost six kilometers away from the airport and backing on to Nakheel’s Arabian Canal project.

Dubai World Central’s long-term benefits to the emirate, the UAE, the GCC and surrounding regions are immense.
